Padma Bhushan Sri. Mannathu Padmanabhan was a great phelanthropist who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the society and Nair community. He was born in Perunna, on 02 January 1878 AD, which is a small town in Kerala, India. Sri. Eswaran Namboodiri of Nilavana Illam was his father and his mother was, Chiramuttathu Parvathy Amma.
Sri. Mannath Padmanabhan was a legendary personality who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the people in Kerala in general and the Nairs in particular.

The Nair Service Society established VTMNSS College in 1964 in commemoration of the great freedom fighter, Thalakulathu Velu Thampi Dalava, on the occasion of his 200th birth anniversary.

VTMNSS College is situated on a hillock at Dhanuvachapuram, en route to Kanayakumari, which is on the southern most tip of Kerala. The idyllic environs of the college provide a congenial ambience for academic pursuits.

The Nair Service Society is an organization engaged in selfless service and was founded by late Sri. Mannatech Padmanabhan on 31.10.1914. With an amazing network of units at the village called Kara yoga and taluk levels as taluk unions, the NSS has evolved into a well-knit and coherent organization that adheres to the noble ideals and principles of its founder.NSS runs high schools, Higher Secondary Schools, Arts and Science colleges, teacher's training colleges, engineering college, Homoeo Medical College, nursing colleges, Polytechnic Colleges, TTC schools, hospitals, Working Women's Hostels and Technical institutions. The Principal acts as the central coordinating agency that links the management, the staff, the students, the University and the Government.
