Plagiarism is the presentation of some one else’s work, words, images, ideas, opinion, discoveries, art work, music, recordings or computer generated of others without properly acknowledging the source with or without the source’s permission.

Purpose
Purpose of this policy is to implement an effective mechanism at the college level to deal with plagiarism consistently across all students of our college

Scope
The Anti-Plagiarism policy is applicable to all students of our college. In this policy the emphasis is primarily upon giving awareness to students about the impact of Plagiarism benefits of siting sources, how to avoid  Plagiarism and make the students aware the consequences.

Guidelines

  • Encourage students to bring misconduct to the attention of Teachers (Academic integrity)
  • Make ensure that the students to submit their own work in the prescribed manner framed by the college
  • Introduce genuine Plagiarism detecting website and electronic resources to students.
  • Every students should produce a signed declaration of originality along with their projects and assignments.
  • If correct reasoning is produced by the students with regard to the detection of plagiarism, they can be excused and allow to resubmit their original work.
  • If the matter cannot be resolved at the Teacher level, the same can be forwarded to H.O.D/Principal, and the matter can be resolved after receiving proper explanation from the concerned student.
  • If the matter cannot be resolved at the College level, the same can be forwarded to the University disciplinary committee.

Recognizing the prevalence of plagiarism in project dissertations of UG and PG students, College as a whole introduced a plagiarism checking software ‘viper’ from the academic year 2016-2017. Moreover, the final year students are sensitized on the aftereffects of plagiarism. Awareness about sound research techniques and introduction of anti-plagiarism software has drastically reduced the incidence of piracy and other malpractices among the dissertation works of students.
