To enhance the learning experience, we offer several services, including:

WORKING HOURS
Except for public holidays, the library works from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm from Monday
to Saturday.

The Library committee consist of the Principal, various heads of departments,
student representative and the Librarian. The role of a library advisory committee is
to provide guidance, support, and recommendations to the library staff and
administration to enhance and improve library services, resources, and programs
TECHNICAL ORGANISATION OFTHE LIBRARY
The present arrangement of documents in the library is according to Dewey Decimal
Classification 19 th Edition, devised by Melvil Dewey. Since 2015, all library books have
been classified according to DDC.
ORGANISATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE LIBRARY
The library has more than 40865 books and a good collection of journals and
magazines. Special sections are maintained for rare books, self-help books, Research
methodology, Human rights and Kerala history.
The library provides facility for every student to make the best use of the reading
material available in books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, and E-Resources. In
addition, it helps teachers and students to prepare for various courses to keep up-to-
date with current development in different fields of study.
PROGRAMMES AND EVENTS
We believe in fostering a sense of community and regularly organize:
Workshops and Seminars: Educational workshops and seminars on various topics.
Ashakiran: A helping hand for visually challenged student
Current Awareness Service -We collect information from newspapers and prepare
fact sheet and distribute via WhatsApp group to the students
Exhibitions: Displays and exhibitions that highlight different aspects of our collection.
ACHIEVEMENT
Our students use e-resources like N-LIST for their learning purposes and in 2023 we
had turned as the number one college in N-LIST usage in the country.

IT APPLICATIONS IN THE LIBRARY
The college library uses Koha software, an integrated library management system
that supports library operations of all kinds. We have installed the software Dspace
in preserving scholarly contents generated by the academic community in the
college and manage other documents in digital format. The College Library has
subscribed to the British Library’s Institutional Membership, which provides the
opportunity to use a number of digital resources, including e-books, e- magazines,
documentaries, online learning modules, and IELTS contents, as remote. An
automated gate register is integrated with Koha for facilitating in- out management.
We have installed the software Dspace to preserve scholarly content generated by the
academic community in the college and manage other documents in digital format.
We provide an effective framework for storing temporary e-books to promote
continuous reading, organising our collection of electronic books temporarily for
undisturbed reading is provided by the e-book management programme, Calibre.
CIRCULATION SECTION
The fully automated library has an issuable collection of 40865books. At a time,
Three books are issued to UG students, Three to PG students, and 10 to teachers and
other staff for a lending period of 14 days and renewal option for 7 days .More books
are issued on request for doing projects and assignments. Overdue charges are
collected from all uses as per the government guidelines.
REFERENCE SECTION
This section has 1553 reference books, including encyclopedias, yearbooks, language
dictionaries, subject dictionaries, and support materials for preparing various
competitive exams.

NEWSPAPER AND PERIODICAL SECTION
The library has a total collection of more than 15 titles in the periodical section. The
library subscribes to 7 newspapers ,Three in English and four in Malayalam. The back
volumes of periodicals are also provided on request.
JOURNAL SECTION
The library has a collection of 21 titles of journals. Inflibnet facility is also available.
Students can download Inflibnet e- journals and e-books.
WEB OPAC SERVICE
With the help of the Koha database, students can search library catalogues online.
DIGITAL LIBRARY
With the collections of previous year question papers , Question bank etc with free-
of-cost browsing facility.

The help desk provides various information to the users like programmes of various

USING THE LIBRARY CATALOG
INTRODUCTION TO THE LIBRARY CATALOG
Our library catalog is a comprehensive system that allows you to search for and
locate a wide range of materials available in our collection. You can access the
catalog online.
SEARCHING FOR MATERIALS
To find materials in the library catalog, you can use several search techniques. A
basic search can be performed using keywords, titles, authors, or subjects. For more
precise results, advanced search options are available, allowing you to use Boolean
operators (AND, OR, NOT) and filter results by format, date, and language.
Additionally, you can browse our collections using the Dewey Decimal System and
explore our special collections and archives.
UNDERSTANDING CATALOG ENTRIES
When you perform a search, the results will include various details to help you
locate the item. Each entry will display the title, author, and publication information,
along with the item’s location and call number. You can also check the availability
status to see if the item is checked out, on hold, or in transit. Detailed item
descriptions often include a summary or abstract, a table of contents, and relevant
subject headings and keywords.
ASSISTANCE WITH CATALOG
If you need help using the catalog, our library staff is available to assist you.
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
The library offers various volunteering opportunities for students and community
members who wish to contribute to our services:
• Shelving and Organizing: Help with shelving books and maintaining the order
of our collections.
• Event Assistance: Assist with the planning and execution of library events and
programs.
• Special Projects: Participate in special projects such as digitizing archives,
conducting surveys, and helping with library outreach programs.
DONATING TO THE LIBRARY
Your donations are invaluable in helping us enhance our collections and services.
There are several ways to contribute :
Book Donations: We Accept donations of gently used books that can be added to
our collections.
LIBRARY RULES
The personal belongings are not allowed inside the library and all such
items are to be kept in the library property counter. Do not keep valuable
items in the property counter and the Library staff will not be responsible
for the loss of any personal belongings of users.
Users are required to log-in using the Automated Gate register System
while entering and exit.
Users are allowed to bring white sheet papers, notebook and laptop
inside the library are to be shown for verification to the library staff while
entering and exit.
The library follows open access system. All books / journals taken
out of the rack should not be replaced by users after referring /
reading. Such books should be left on the table itself.
Any issued book taken out of the library should be kept outside.
The users shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to
the library. Marking, scratching, damaging, mutilating, stealing, library
materials, or property will invite disciplinary action against the defaulters.
Always carry the Identity card and must be produced whenever asked
for.ID card is mandatory for borrowing books.
Library cards are not transferable.
Handle the Library material with utmost care and a borrower shall
remain responsible for material issued to her / him until it is returned.

1. The membership of the library is open to the students, faculty and
administrative staff of the college.
2. Admission to the library is restricted to members, but others who are desirous
of consulting books in the library may do so with the permission of the
Librarian or in his absence, of the senior most members of the staff of the
library present. Permission can be refused without assigning any reasons
therefor.
Before leaving the counter the member must satisfy himself as to whether
the books lent to him/her are in sound condition and if not, he/she must
immediately bring the matter to the notice of the assistant on duty at the
counter. Otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for any damage
discovered afterward.
Damage to or loss of books on loan should be immediately reported to the
Librarian. Members are liable to replace such books or pay the damage/ cost
of the book as fixed by the Librarian. If one volume of a set is damaged or lost
the whole set may be required to be replaced. No book will be issued to such
members till the loss has been made good. They are liable to pay overdue
charges.
A book which is on loan may be reserved for borrowing by other members by
filling up the Reservation Card at the counter and affixing postal stamps of the
proper value on it. The member concerned will be intimated as soon as the
book is available for issue and he should take the book within five days from the
date of issue of the intimation. The book will not be kept reserved for him
beyond this period.
Photocopying of library books and journals may only be carried out within the
Copyright regulations. Before taking any book or journal for photocopying,
permission must be obtained from the library staff on duty.

Members will get at the time of admission a Membership Card and as many
Borrower’s Tickets as the number of books they are eligible to borrow. On
each occasion when a book is borrowed a Borrower’s Ticket is to be given at
the counter. The ticket will be returned to the borrower when the book is
returned.
The Borrower’s Ticket and the Membership Card are not transferable as they
are token of privilege which only the member for whom they are issued is
entitle to. Sub-lending of books is a misuse of this privilege and is to be
avoided. Books however can be borrowed/ returned through authorised
agents.
Special care should be taken to see that the Membership Card and
Borrower’s Tickets are not misplaced or lost. All losses are to be reported
immediately to the Librarian.
Silence must be observed inside the library and loud talking is prohibited in all
parts of the library. As the Library is a place of individual study and research,
members should conduct themselves to maintain an atmosphere conducive to
this. Smoking shall not be permitted within the Library building. Use of Mobile
Phone inside the Library is not permitted. Photography/ videography inside the
library is prohibited normally, but special permission can be obtained.
Books should be handled with care. Marking on books is most
objectionable and may lead to the cancellation of membership privileges.
Members have the privilege of direct access to the shelves in the stack
rooms and the reading hall and the freedom to browse among the books.
It is important that the classified arrangement of the book according to
the numbers, is maintained in the shelves for the convenience of the
members themselves. While therefore book can be freely taken out of
the shelves, on no account should they be reshelved by the members
because of the danger of misplacement. Such books may be left on the
nearest table.
For better use of the Library, members can have help of the staff.
Members are not permitted to reserve seats in the reading halls either for
themselves or for others and will not be permitted to retain documents in
the absence of a member for an unreasonable period of time.
Any infringement of these rules will render the privilege of admission to and
borrowing books from the Library liable to forfeiture.
